For the past 9 months we have been working with Project Dragon-S, a UN-funded research project being conducted at Swansea University. The project aims to create artificially intelligent tools capable of understanding he models of communication used by groomers who are trying to abuse children online. The hope of the project is by identifying the communication patterns, intervention can happen earlier.
We created two animations that help to explain the process of online grooming, and how groomers build trust through communication. We utilised abstract shapes to narrate the concept – a simplified representation of a complex network of communications. We created the abstract characters with a dynamic and simple eye in the middle to bring it to life and express emotion in a simple way.
